Jamie Smith believes in service above self and advocates for our schools and communities.  Jamie partners with others to accomplish goals, effectively manages money, time, and people, serves her community, includes all players in decision making process, and creates solutions that benefit all. 


Coming from a family of teachers, nurses, military and police officers


As a daughter of a teacher and nurse

… Jamie Smith was raised valuing education, family, and public service. Born and raised in Oregon she moved to Washington to attend Pacific Lutheran University where she played soccer and competed in track.  Jamie graduated Magna Cum Laude and majored in History, Secondary Education, and minored in Communications in 2004 and earned her Masters in Education in 2007.


Jamie Smith has served her community as an educator in Washington State for 11 years. While teaching at Puyallup High School she served as the assistant cross country and track coach, basketball scorer, was a class and club advisor, union representative, served on the task force to create new teacher evaluation tools, and earned her National Board Certificate in Adolescent and Young Adult Social Studies. While teaching leadership her students were honored to be recognized as the High School Blood Drive of the Year for the Cascade Regional Blood Services.


Jamie Smith also works with the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation to develop courage, commitment, citizenship, integrity, patriotism, and sacrifice in students throughout the nation. She has helped provide free character development training and curriculum to teachers across the United States helping students recognize that they have the ability within them to accomplish amazing things and to understand that every person has the potential to change the world.


Jamie Smith is an active member in her church helping to found the young adult group, working with the rummage sale to support a local women’s shelter and youth missions, raising money through drama productions with the Puyallup Players, attending classes, and raising money for service projects.


In her free time Jamie Smith loves to play soccer and run, spend time with her  family and friends, visit local businesses, and broaden her students minds through cultural excursions.


Jamie Smith knows how to work with others to accomplish goals, how to effectively manage time and projects, serves her community, and works to include all players in decision making process.  Jamie believes in service above self, knows the value of education, and fights for our schools, communities, and children.  We need Jamie Smith as an educational leader in Olympia.
